In the neighborhood of Chulumal III sits a church building where the Gethsemane Methodist Church meets. It is nearly surrounded by a grassy yard that is often trampled by the feet of kids and adults who come to learn, share, and grow together.
In January, Michael lead a group of about 16 church leaders in a workshop after the pastor in charge of the children’s program invited us to teach about children’s ministry. He brought together a team and some of the church youth leaders and children’s ministry team to learn on a Friday afternoon.
During the four-hour workshop, Michael taught about a variety of topics like: vision, creativity, setting priorities, resources, and organizing. All was centered around building up the team of leaders that God placed in this church to minister to the younger generation. The workshop also included hands-on activities and participation by the church leaders who seemed to enjoy the interactive approach to learning.
As we continue developing resources and training leaders, we are seeing God open opportunities to teach workshops with churches and school leaders to help equip them to disciple children and youth.
Please continue praying that God will stengthen the Guatemalan church to be Word-centered leaders who develop Godly leaders ready and able to go to their nation and others with God’s transforming message.
