Here’s a story that comes from a fellow missionary that works among the Ixil language group. We received some Audio Bible devices that we passed along to them. Here’s how God used those materials to plant His word in the hearts of the people as they told me…
Last summer we began working on trying to get Ixil audio Bibles for new Christians in remote villages (have to hike for hours) who have opened up to outsiders for the first time. We came up against several obstacles…we worked with [another organization] to get audio Bibles, but for “political” reasons they were not able to get permission from their partners to load Ixil on their onto their audio Bible. However, the partner said they would load “Ixil Bible stories”. That sounded better than nothing to us, so we purchased them. However, last week when I was charging them (by solar panel) and was figuring out how to use them, I discovered that the “Ixil Bible stories” were only 30 minutes of talking about the Bible, 6 songs, someone reading the ten commandments, and the story of the prodigal son. We were very disappointed and were due to hike to the village to deliver them last weekend.
Then, to our amazement, while Mike was in Chichicastenago, Michael Shead handed Mike a bag of 16 audio Bibles in Ixil. That is what we’d been trying to get the whole time! It was a miracle, and we took them out last weekend and handed them out. Seventy-five percent of the village is monolingual, so this is exactly what they needed! Thank you!!Mike & Terri McComb
The Audio Bible device called “The Treasure” that we distribute are provided by World Mission and are available in a variety of languages.
