About 30 minutes down the road from Chichicastenango is the departmental (think state) seat called Santa Cruz del Quiche where about 102,000 people live. In the center of town is a park where people buy and sell a variety of products. Shoeshine boys and kids selling candies ply the park and nearby streets trying to make money for themselves and their families. These kids need Jesus. A ministry called “New Wineskins” uses our Adventures in the Bible booklets to teach God’s Word to these kids along with fun activities, practical training and a yummy meal. Recently they invited us to participate in one of their special events. We love that God’s Word is going into the hearts of youth and kids who might not have a good opportunity to hear about Christ.
