About three hours from Chichicastenango is a small town called Chicaman. On the outskirts of Chicaman, up a gravel road a flat area has been carved out of the hill and a covered soccer field with fake grass welcomes some unlikely teams from the area.
For the past two years, teams of students have been coming from various churches in the area to study God’s Word on that soccer field. This is one of ASELSI’s Bible training extension sites. ASELSI is the Guatemalan ministry that we have been serving with since we came to Guatemala in 2011.
I (Michael) visited the students last year and just a few weeks ago, I was back in Chicaman to celebrate with 14 students for their graduation from the two-year ASELSI Bible class.
It was exciting to see these pastors and church leaders graduate after their two years of studying.
Please pray for these leaders and for ASELSI as we continue teaching and equipping pastors and leaders to know and live God’s Word.
